A lesson in love

She spoke the words and asked me to repeat them.

“Even now, I love and accept myself unconditionally.”

I started to speak, but couldn’t. Something stopped me, held my tongue from speaking.

Write it out, I told her. Maybe that would make a difference.

She reached for a notepad and wrote out the words in large block handwriting at the bottom of the top page. When she done, she pushed the pad across the table toward me.

I held the tablet in front of me, looking at it before finally speaking.

Nothing magical happened once I finished.

But at least it was a start.
